The following is a Historical marker located in front of The York Institute.

This is a photo of York Agricultural Institute founded in 1926 by World War I hero "Sergeant Alvin C. York"
this is a picture of the old building adjacent to the new building built in the mid 80s.

The new York Institute as it is today. The campus consists of over 400 acres utilized as an agricultural teaching site and an Ecology
and Conservation area.

The "Mark Twain" spring is the site where Mark Twains parents got water in the early 1800's. The historical marker gives more information.

This is the Mark Twain Spring as it is today, located about a block from the Fentress County Courthouse.
A great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of our small town!
